Cello Weekend

Format

There will be three groups each with a professional cellist tutor.

• The course will be led by Steve Collisson with:
  • Danny Norbury
  • Mike Bacon

Course details

We will be convening to enjoy playing lots of lovely cello music, including some Star Wars related music (as previously promised) and some suitably sunny repertoire both to challenge us a little and to cheer us all along in equal measure.

There will be the usual variety of orchestral and chamber music and the opportunity for you to play something for solo cello (with accompaniment where appropriate) in our play and share session.

We will be arranging a number of new pieces and I would like us to try to tailor them to your needs.

Equally, if you have a piece of music in mind that you would like to play then please let us know (by contacting Sue Hadley) and we will try to arrange it, if at all possible, either for cello ensemble or cello orchestra.

As always, the weekend is intended to be a very enjoyable renewal of your relationship with the cello with a bit of hard work and a lot to fun thrown in.

If you're feeling a little timid (or downright terrified) of playing in public then the Play and Share is exactly the right forum for you!

It's a lovely friendly atmosphere intended to help everyone who takes part to have a good experience of playing to others and to benefit both from the experience and from the help from the teacher leading the session.

For some people this forum has been the very first time that they have played to others on their own and it has been a challenge that they have retrospectively acknowledged as a huge and very satisfying achievement.

So, don't be shy :-).

All levels of achievement are worthy of acknowledgment so don't feel that you have to be Yo Yo Ma to take part!
